A SPORTS PROJECT OF THE SOUTH END MUSEUM
South Africa has been granted this wonderful opportunity of a life time, that is, the 2010 Soccer World Cup. All thanks to Dr. Danny Jordaan and a few others for making this momentous occassion a reality in our country, a first for Africa. We are proud to be associated with Dr. Jordaan.
The South End Museum is a community based museum that researches and exhibits the histories, cultures and traditions of the communities that were affected by forced removals, especially of those who lived in South End. Sport, and especially soccer, was keenly played and followed by many in South End and so this exhibition initiated by Valentine Brink, Trustee and Treasurer, assisted by Ernest Moodaley, Trustee and Secretary, is proudly presented at the museum as part of the heritage of South End and of our city.
Valentine and Ernest, both from South End Museum, together with Tony Lovegrove of ADRAP Advertising Technologies, set up the design of the exhibition.
The formal opening ceremony and celebrations were held on Sunday 28th March 2010. The ribbon cutting was done by Dr. Danny Jordaan (CEO 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa) and Errol Heynes (2010 FIFA World Cup Local Organising Committee Head).
Visitors and the Community are invited to attend this magnificent exhibition which is open until after the World Cup and view the collection of memorabilia from Dr. Danny Jordaan.
